HUMAN TRAFFICKING & REPORTING
Human trafficking is a serious crime and a grave violation of human rights. It involves the use of force, fraud, or coercion to exploit people for labor, services, or commercial sex. Victims can be of any age, gender, or background, and trafficking can happen in any community—including ours.
Recognizing the Signs
- Unexplained absences from school or work
- Sudden changes in behavior, clothing, or possessions
- Signs of physical abuse or neglect
- Lack of personal identification documents
- Fearful, anxious, or submissive behavior
- Someone speaking for them or controlling their movements
The Role of the LHTC Coordinator at BRCAC
The Louisiana Human Trafficking Collaborative Coordinator at BRCAC is central to the community’s efforts against human trafficking. This coordinator oversees initiatives designed to raise awareness, educate the public, and support young trafficking victims throughout Louisiana. Acting as a key liaison between BRCAC and local partners, the LCYTC Coordinator organizes outreach and prevention programs, facilitates access to safety and essential services for victims, and serves as a resource for reporting concerns. By connecting families and youth to support systems and leading collaborative prevention strategies, the LCYTC Coordinator strengthens regional response to trafficking and advances BRCAC’s mission to protect children and youth.
